Continued from Vegetable Garden Design 101
You may want to think outside of the box when designing your home vegetable garden (or any type of garden for that matter). Meaning, think not only of your garden layout and decor, but your whole outdoor setup. This includes looking into deck or patio decorations and unique mailboxes for sale.
As for your actual garden design, the plot for your vegetable garden design would optimally be facing south and open. There should be terraces that can form raised bed gardening locations. Each terrace can be level of using a rototiller, which can ensure that the seeds will not be washed away during the first rain of this season.
Clear the grounds of stones, weeds and debris. Rake the soil to a fine tilth. Place low walls that are supported at regular intervals by timber posts. Lay any desired paths with bark mulch to intersect the beds and provide a soft, firms surface. This will allow easy access for tending your vegetable garden and harvesting the vegetable plants. Place trellis panels over slope to banks to help climbers. Hyde compost tumblers from view.
These are all useful techniques when designing your outdoor presence and garden design.
